This Wall Painting work is my biggest watercolour painting. It was done as aquarelle painting, but was made from acrylics.( the aquarelle , which is not light resistant and water proof doesn’t match the needs of wall paintings) along with special jelly-like binding Vellature. Vellature prevents acrylic from drying too fast and dripping of liquid colours down the wall. The foundation of wall painting-is parget, made from cellulose. This mixture is similar by its characteristics to aquarelle paper.
The whole work was done in water colour style , painted over the moistened surface in a thin layer of watery colours without adding whiting All the white contours of the paintings are not colour filled surface of the wall. In order to protect the clear contours from being mixed with main colours, at the very begining of work all the contours, which had already been painted on the wall, were outlined with masking aquarelle liquid. After being dried this liquid forms thick, water resistant layer and after the works is over this layer is usually erased with rubber and the surface of the wall remains white and not painted over.
The main motif of this fairytale like city is the mixture of impressions and sketches left after the trip to Serbia and St Petersburg, in Russia There are also views of Ivangorod’s fortress.
If you want to have the same painting in your own house, you are very welcome.
